The Challenge
On Sunday May 13th 2012, 7 physios will start running from the base of Snowdon in North Wales, aiming to finish 183.5 miles later in Cardiff Bay - 7 marathons in 7 days. This is the culmination of almost a year of planning and building a team of runners who think their bodies can take such an extreme event.
Multiple and ultra-marathons are becoming more common these days but 7 marathons events are still fairly rare. Our route has never been run before, and is the longest road running event ever in Wales. The route is also extremely tough, obviously we start in Snowdonia and include more ascents than the Snowdonia Marathon - Europe's toughest road race - and that's just on Day 1!
We are doing all of this to raise money primarily for the MS Society - to raise awareness and fund research into this progressive degenerative neurological disease, that has approximately 100,000 sufferers in the UK alone.
In addition to raising money for the MS Society, some of our runners will also be raising funds for other charities near to them - we want as many people as possible to benefit from our efforts - check with the runner you are sponsoring to see who will benefit.
